MOFS has 2 nominated charities, whom we support and work with as a business. I recently had the privilege to be invited to the main NWAA Base in Manchester at Barton Aerodrome by Rachel Donohoe, one of the fantastic fundraising team who are based there. The visit gave me the opportunity to speak with the team as to how MOFS may be able to help with fundraising, but also to learn more about the operation itself.
I was surprised to learn how often the team are called upon to launch the air ambulance on a daily basis, averaging up to 10 times a day. The cost of full deployment, where the team are deployed to a medical emergency, attend and return, can cost between £4,000 and £5,000, with many more aborted events costing between £1,000 and £2,000 per time. Quite a considerable financial commitment!
Whilst NWAA work extremely closely with the NHS, this is not an NHS or government funded service. It relies entirely upon support from private donations and thus fundraising is extremely important to keep this valuable service in the air. MOFS is proud to be able to offer our support to NWAA as one of our nominated charities, as we sincerely hope to keep their valuable service available to all.
